HOPE PLASTICS CORPORATION - PO BOX 224 - GASTONIA NC 28053

Hope Plastics Corp. began back in 1959 by William K Hope, Sr. and his wife Jessie. The business began in the back room of their small mill village home.

His father, Orville; an expert machinist and textile worker himself, taught all his sons how to be machinist. Orville passed his machining skills along to his sons.

Gastonia NC at that time was known as 'The Textile Capital of the World". The textile mills were busy and needed replacement parts for their equipment. Bill Sr. having this knowledge of machining began making molds to make plastic parts for these mills.

This led to the first original design and building of a small injection molding machine which made a single condenser with a 3/8 inch gap for one of the local mills. From this single condenser, grew more molded parts; and eight more original and hand made injection molding machines from which his business furnished customers their parts.

For a short period of time; Hope Plastics rented space on Marietta Street and continued to grow. Later in 1972 Bill Sr. bought land between Gastonia and Bessemer City NC and moved one more time. This is where the current manufacturing location is to date.

In 1982 Bill Sr. did begin to purchase what he called "store bought" molding machines. One new machine led to another and the molding equipment doubled. Many of the original injection molding machines Bill Sr. designed and built are still in use.

After the death of Bill Sr.; his two sons David & Bill Jr. continue to keep the machines running, filling orders and shipping parts to customers around the world.
